SUMMARY

Shree Krishna International's ANDAAZ, produced by Suneel Darshan and directed by Raj Kanwar, is the regular routine stuff with new packaging. The treatment in the second half, coupled with the presence of two beauty queens, uplifts the film to a major extent.

Andaaz is an intensely emotional film that explores the various facts of love, friendship, commitment, passion, devotion, obsession. Andaaz is the story of three people who believe in love and know how to love, but don't know when to declare their love.

Raj (Akshay Kumar) and Kaajal (Lara Dutta) are inseparable childhood friends who nurture and stand by each other through thick or thin. Their bonds only grow stronger and deeper with the years.

While Raj dreams of becoming a pilot, Kaajal dreams that some day, a Prince Charming will come her way and fly her into the sky. Raj totally in love with Kaajal, wants to be that special person, and joins the Air Force. Raj becomes an Air force officer and realises his childhood dream.

Now all that's left is to win his childhood love. On cloud nine, Raj returns home to propose to Kaajal. But he's too late in declaring his love. Kaajal is getting married to Karan Singhania(Aman Verma).

Enters Priyanka, a carefree and bubbly girl. She bumps into Akshay [who is abroad on a training] in an inebriated state. Akshay gives her shelter in his apartment and in the bargain, Priyanka falls head-over-heels in love with him.

But, all her advances and attempts to woo Akshay fail as he regards her as nothing but a rich, spoilt brat. Priyanka, on the other hand, is determined to win his love.

Akshay returns home and is surprised to find Priyanka staying as a paying guest in their house. After repeated attempts, Priyanka finally has her man. The two agree to marry. It's smooth sailing for the lovers until Lara resurfaces. The rest of the story revolves around the three main characters and their problems.

Akshay Kumar does full justice to his role of a guy unable to express his love in the first half and one who is torn between two girls in the second half. Both, Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra are extremely confident and have done wonderfully, considering that this is their debut film.

On the whole, ANDAAZ has freshness (Lara, Priyanka), hit music, an engaging second half and a brilliant climax as its trump cards.

On the whole, Andaaz is, at best, a city film and one for multiplexes and good cinemas with excellent sound system.
