King Kai or also know as the North Kai rules the North Quadrant of the Galaxy. When Goku was killed in the battle with Raditz Goku traveled to the afterlife where he met King Kai. King Kai trained Goku to defeat the Saiyans that were coming to Earth. After Goku left King Kai he still stayed in contact with him throughout the series. When Cell threaten to blow up Earth by sacerficing himself. Goku teleported Cell to King Kais home where Cell blew up thus killing King Kai and Goku. King Kai was able to keep his body and take Goku to a tournament for the dead which is at the Grand Kai's palace. There King Kai stayed the rest of the series.
