Cristiano Ronaldo's yellow card against Rayo Vallecano has been rescinded after Real Madrid launched an appeal.

Ronaldo scored his 300th Real Madrid goal in Wednesday's 2-0 La Liga win but the reigning Ballon d'Or holder was also booked for simulation in the 51st minute after referee Mario Melero Lopez felt he had tried to win a penalty.

That yellow card would have triggered an automatic one-match ban for Saturday's game at home to Eibar, but the club launched an appeal and the referee's decision to book the player has been overturned.

A statement on the club's official website read: "The RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) Competition Committee has upheld the appeal submitted by Real Madrid against the yellow card shown to Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Rayo Vallecano, agreeing to 'rescind the caution imposed on the player by the referee.'

"The forward will therefore be eligible to play in the La Liga matchday 31 game against Eibar."

The news comes as a significant boost for Madrid, who have James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos suspended for this weekend's game and will be without Gareth Bale due to fitness troubles.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti told a news conference on Friday: "To appeal was the normal thing to do. It was not fair to show the card, so we appealed. For tomorrow's game we need Cristiano. It is an important game -- we have a lot of respect for Eibar. We are obliged not to slip up, so we must put out the best XI possible."

Ancelotti also played down controversy over Ronaldo's goal celebration on Wednesday, when he made a gesture towards linesman that was interpreted as signalling a robbery.

"When you score, what happens on the pitch, it can happen," the Italian said, adding that the gesture had come after the failure to award "a penalty which was very clear."

He added: "It is all fine -- we must just accept the committee's decision."

Madrid are currently four points behind league leaders Barcelona in the Primera Division table.
