Navy PNS Babar on goodwill, training cruise to Jeddah

ISLAMABAD, June 27 (APP) - A Pakistan Navy Ship Babar is visiting the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from June 25 to 28, on a goodwill-cum-training cruise.A reception was held at ship by its crew which was attended by Pakistani and Saudi citizens, journalists, diplomats and Saudi Naval Officers, a message by Pakistan’s Consulate General in Jeddah said.Speaking on the occasion, Captain Azhar Naeem, Commanding Officer of PNS Babar said Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have close brotherly relations and the navies of both the countries have history of strong strategic relations.He said Pakistan believes in promoting peace and security in the region.
Consul General of Pakistan Abdul Salik Khan said Pak-Saudi relations were time-tested and beyond mundane considerations. He expressed his gratitude to the Saudi leadership for assisting Pakistan in hours of trial and need.
PNS Babar was commissioned on 30 September, 1993 and is equipped with state-of-the-art Combat Management System, torpedoes and missiles. It can also operate an organic helicopter. The ship took part in various deployments and exercises in country and abroad. PNS Babar is one of the most potent elements of Pakistan fleet, capable of fighting in all three dimensions.
